Countryfile is back with another episode, and this time the team is exploring the Staffordshire National Memorial Arboretum. This peaceful and serene place is a true tribute to the men and women who gave their lives fighting for peace and freedom.

The episode starts with host John Craven exploring the 150-acre space that is open to the public. The arboretum has around 300 memorials honoring the brave men and women who fought for their country. The team speaks with one of the volunteers who work in the arboretum and he explains how the place means so much to those who have lost their loved ones serving the country.

Next up is Anita Rani who visits the Field of Remembrance where visitors can plant a cross in memory of their loved ones who lost their lives fighting for their country. The Field of Remembrance is an emotional place, and Anita speaks to visitors about their experiences and memories.

The arboretum also has a large collection of trees and wildflowers. Tom Heap visits the wildflowers meadow where he learns about the importance of planting wildflowers and the role they play in providing habitats for insects. He also speaks with the gardener to discuss the challenges they face while maintaining the arboretum.

The Countryfile team also gets a behind-the-scenes look at how the arboretum maintains its memorials. Ellie Harrison speaks with the conservator who explains the techniques they use to protect the memorials from the weather, time, and wear and tear.

Another interesting section of the Staffordshire National Memorial Arboretum is the Armed Forces Memorial. The memorial has the names of around 16,000 soldiers, sailors, airmen, and women who lost their lives serving the country since World War II. The memorial is a poignant reminder of the sacrifices made by these brave men and women, and it's evident how much it means for those who visit it.

Finally, the episode ends with John Craven exploring the Poppy Field, which is dedicated to the soldiers who lost their lives in the First World War. The field has over 30,000 poppies, representing each soldier who lost their life during that war.

The Staffordshire National Memorial Arboretum is a truly touching and important place, and this episode of Countryfile does an excellent job of showcasing why it's so important to appreciate and remember those who lost their lives serving the country. It's an emotional and moving episode that will leave a lasting impression on viewers.
