Crafty Carol is back with another exciting episode of Make & Do on Cool School, and this time she's got a fun Easter craft for us! In season 12 episode 8, titled Trolls Poppy & Branch DIY Easter Eggs!, Carol shows us how to transform plain old Easter eggs into adorable characters from the popular animated movie, Trolls.
The episode kicks off with Crafty Carol introducing herself and her trusty sidekick, Crafty Carol's friend, Drew. She gets right to it, showing us exactly what materials we'll need to make our own Trolls Easter eggs. Of course, we'll need some eggs, but we'll also need paint, paintbrushes, glue, tissue paper, and some construction paper in the colors we want to use for our Trolls characters.
Carol takes us through each step of the process, starting with boiling our eggs to make them ready for decorating. She reminds us to be careful handling the hot eggs, and to let them cool completely before we start painting or gluing anything to them.
Once our eggs are ready, Carol shows us how to paint them in the base colors we'll need for our Trolls characters. For Poppy, we'll need a pink egg, and for Branch, we'll need a blue one. Carol suggests using acrylic paint, but also notes that tempera or watercolor paints will work if that's what we have on hand.
Once our base colors are dry, it's time to start adding the details that will turn our eggs into Trolls characters. Carol shows us how to cut out the shapes we need from construction paper, including Poppy and Branch's hair and ears. She also demonstrates how to glue the shapes onto the eggs using a small paintbrush and a little bit of watered-down glue.
As we work on our Trolls Easter eggs, Carol shares some interesting trivia about the movie and its characters. For example, did you know that Poppy's full name is Princess Poppy, or that Branch's hair used to be black before it turned gray?
After we're done gluing on all the details, it's time to add a little bit of sparkle to our eggs. Carol shows us how to cut out small pieces of tissue paper in the colors we want to use for our Trolls characters' outfits, and then glue them onto the eggs with a little bit of watered-down glue. The bright, shiny tissue paper adds a fun touch of whimsy to our Easter eggs, just like the Trolls characters themselves.
Finally, it's time to add the finishing touches to our Trolls Easter eggs. Carol demonstrates how to use black paint to paint on Poppy and Branch's eyes, and then adds a little white paint for the highlights. She also adds a few final details, like Poppy's flower or Branch's gear, depending on which character we're making.
By the end of the episode, we're left with a dozen adorable Trolls Easter eggs, ready to be displayed as part of our Easter decorations. Crafty Carol has once again shown us how to create something fun and creative using simple materials, and we can't wait to try making our own Trolls Easter eggs at home.
