Departing the King River we head to the Wessels Islands situated in the North Eastern tip of the Northern Territory of Australia. We enjoy peaceful swimming and sailing, transit the notorious Gugari Rip and land a Spanish Mackerel and Long Tail tuna on our way into Gove.

We depart Darwin to sail around the Cobourg Peninsula. Anchoring at Popham Bay we discover a mangrove creek filled with coral and catch our first Northern Territory mud crab. We sail on to Port Essington where we have to refill our water tanks due to a minor mishap and visit the Victoria Ruins, a British garrison settlement abandoned in 1849.

For our final episode in the Kimberley, we head to the Berkley River where we were pleasantly surprised to find plenty of fresh water billabongs so late in the dry season. More amazing scenery, plants, rock art and wildlife was discovered at Casuarina Creek. Departing the Berkley for Darwin, we discover why the Bonaparte Gulf is more colloquially known by yachties as the "Blown Apart Gulf".

At freshwater bay we enjoy the comforts of an easily accessible fresh water source near our anchorage. We then navigate the sand banks of the Drysdale River to reach Don's camp where we meet some of the tamer local wildlife and enjoy some great fishing. In our favourite episode so far we head Western Australia's Mitchell River, where Pascale beats the sharks to a solid Spanish Mackerel and the crocs to her biggest barramundi yet! We take Mirrool to the tidal rock bar where we explore the spectacular freshwater waterfalls and billabongs by day and listen to crocodile fights by night.

We head back to the mainland to discover more Aboriginal art, stock up on fresh water using a hose drop from a freshwater spring and explore some interesting caves. Pascale discovers the best bathroom ever and Troy repairs our galley pump.

We exit the Sale River and head to Hanover Bay where we enjoy a refreshing dip in the freshwater stream. We then head to Careening Bay where we learn about the adventures of Troy's maritime hero, Phillip Parker King. We have some island time at both Bigge and East Montlivet island where we find turtle tracks, Aboriginal art and a few excited Queenfish!

We cross the Sale River at spring high tide to reach the freshwater rock bar. We enjoys some incredible fishing landing 2 barramundi, 2 mangrove jacks and a thread fin salmon throughout our stay. We camp at the freshwater section of the river for several days where Pascale brews an all-grain Sale Saison, we enjoy some bush cooking and we explore the gorge country finding plenty of Aboriginal art.

We go for a walk at low tide on a drying reef before sailing to the Horizontal Waterfalls. We then motor Mirrool through the first of the horizontal waterfalls! Safely anchored in the inner bay, we enjoy awesome fishing, incredible wildlife, a freshwater stream, crazy whirlpools and an abseil down a cliff to view the tidal run of the second horizontal fall.

We have a water party at Silver Gull Creek and have our first swim in a (freezing cold) Kimberley waterhole. Navigating the tidal run we head to Dugong Bay where we explore a rainforest and the Spectacular Falls. On the menu this week is our Smoked Spanish Mackerel.

We depart Broome to explore the Kimberley coast with some very favourable winds. Once again, we don't go hungry landing a decent Spanish Mackerel en route to Cape Leveque. Our first stop is the stunning Silica Bay famous for its pristine sand and crystal waters.

We raid the coconut trees in Dampier, stop off at Dolphin island to find some aboriginal art and have a skinny dip in a tidal lagoon. We then sail directly to Broome from the Dampier Archipelago and Troy hauls in a mega Spanish Mackerel on the way!

We explore an abandoned whaling station and wreck on beautiful Ningaloo Reef. There's plenty of snorkelling with turtles, sharks and stingrays. We also catch a massive long tail tuna, get a visit from a flying fish and sink a few beers with our mate Pete at his restaurant and microbrewery, Froth, in Exmouth.

We say goodbye to Perth and head to the Houtman Abrolhos Islands, the southern most coral reef in the Indian Ocean. We swim with seals and dolphins, catch a couple of tuna , enjoy some stunning free diving and discover tales of shipwreck, murder and mutiny.
