The show takes place in Las Vegas, Nevada, at the UFC Apex, and is hosted by UFC President Dana White. Each week, White and a team of UFC scouts and matchmakers watch as fighters from various weight classes showcase their skills in the octagon.
This season's premiere episode features five fights, with each bout consisting of three rounds. The card features fighters from different backgrounds, including Muay Thai, wrestling, and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
In the first fight of the night, bantamweight prospect Jeffrey Molina takes on Jacob Silva. Molina comes into the fight with an undefeated record of 8-0 and looks to continue his winning ways against Silva, who holds a record of 7-3.
The second fight of the night pits featherweights Anthony Romero and Mike Breeden against each other. Romero, who trains at the famed Jackson Wink MMA gym, is a talented striker with a 7-0 record. Breeden, a former college wrestler, has a 9-3 record and looks to use his grappling skills to take down Romero.
In the third fight of the night, heavyweight prospects Josh Parisian and Chad Johnson face off. Parisian has been making waves in the MMA world with his impressive striking skills and a record of 13-4. Johnson, a former college football player, has a record of 6-2 and looks to use his athleticism to overcome the more experienced Parisian.
The fourth fight of the night features bantamweights Victor Altamirano and Carlos Candelario. Altamirano, who trains at American Top Team, has an impressive record of 9-1 and looks to use his striking to pick apart Candelario, who holds a record of 7-2.
Finally, in the main event of the evening, featherweight prospects Michael Morales and Nikolay Veretennikov go head-to-head. Morales, who trains with former UFC champion Henry Cejudo, has a record of 11-0 and looks to continue his undefeated streak. Veretennikov, a Russian fighter, has a record of 8-2 and looks to make a name for himself in the UFC with a victory over Morales.
As always, the fighters in each bout have a lot on the line. A win could earn them a contract with the UFC, while a loss could mean going back to the regional circuits to continue fighting their way back to the big leagues.
All in all, DWCS 2022: Week 1 promises to be an exciting night of fights featuring some of the top prospects in MMA. Who will rise to the occasion and earn a spot in the UFC? Tune in to find out!
