Dead to Me season 2 episode 6, titled "You Don't Have To," continues to follow the unexpected friendship between Jen (Christina Applegate) and Judy (Linda Cardellini) as they navigate through the aftermath of a series of tragedies that have rocked their lives.

In this episode, Jen is struggling to come to terms with the fact that the person responsible for her husband's death is still out there, possibly living a normal life while she continues to pick up the pieces of her shattered existence. She's on edge, anxious, and more than a little bit obsessed, pouring over details of the hit-and-run in an effort to track down the driver who ran him over.

Meanwhile, Judy is dealing with her own problems. Her ex-husband Steve (James Marsden) is still lurking around, threatening to expose everything she's been keeping secret. She's also struggling to come to terms with her role in Ted's death—although she tried to save him by driving him to the hospital, it wasn't enough. Now, she's starting to doubt everything she's ever believed in.

As the two women continue to lean on each other for support, they find themselves digging deeper into their respective dark pasts. Jen is determined to find the person responsible for her husband's death, no matter what it takes. And Judy is trying to figure out how to move forward when everything around her seems to be falling apart.

"You Don't Have To" is a tense, emotionally charged episode that dives deep into the complexities of grief, guilt, and forgiveness. It's a thoughtful exploration of what happens when our secrets come to light, and how a single moment of desperation can change the course of our entire lives.

As always, the chemistry between Applegate and Cardellini is electric, and they bring a depth and maturity to their characters that is rare in television. They effortlessly convey the pain, sadness, and anger that both women are feeling, and you can't help but feel invested in their stories.

Overall, "You Don't Have To" is an excellent addition to an already stellar second season. It's a reminder of why Dead to Me has become such a beloved show—because it's not just about a murder mystery, it's about the human experience, and all the messy, beautiful, heartbreaking moments that come with it.
