DIY SOS Season 28 Episode 3 The Big Build - Telford
- June 22, 2017
The Big Build - Telford is the third episode of the 28th season of the television show DIY SOS. In this episode, host Nick Knowles and his team of skilled craftsmen and builders are called to Telford, a large new town in the West Midlands of England, to help a deserving family.
The family in question is the Westlake family, who have been struggling with their home for years. Mr. and Mrs. Westlake have three children - two boys and a girl - and all of them suffer from various disabilities. As a result, the family's current home is completely unsuitable for their needs. It is cramped and cluttered, and the lack of space means that the children have to share bedrooms and struggle to move around the house safely.
The DIY SOS team arrives in Telford and takes a look at the Westlake family's home. They quickly realize that they have a big job on their hands - the house is in an incredibly poor state, with damp, crumbling walls, and a lack of modern amenities such as central heating and double glazing. The team gets to work, with each member taking on a different aspect of the build.
One of the key challenges of this build is the fact that the Westlake family has very specific requirements. For example, the youngest child - who has cerebral palsy - needs a bathroom that is specially adapted for his needs. Meanwhile, the oldest child - who has autism - needs a quiet, sensory room where he can relax and get away from the rest of the family when he needs to. The middle child - who has a rare form of arthritis - needs a bedroom that is big enough for him to move around safely in his wheelchair.
Despite these challenges, the DIY SOS team is determined to create a home that will truly transform the lives of the Westlake family. They work tirelessly for several days, tearing down walls, installing new floors and ceilings, and creating the special adaptations that the family needs.
When the build is finally complete, the Westlake family is overwhelmed with emotion. They are given a tour of their new, spacious home, which is now light, bright, and comfortable. The children are thrilled with their new bedrooms - especially the youngest, who can now use the bathroom safely and easily. The oldest child is delighted with his new sensory room, which has been designed to meet his specific needs.
Mrs. Westlake bursts into tears when she sees her new kitchen, which is modern, spacious, and fully equipped with all the appliances she needs to care for her family. Mr. Westlake is thrilled to finally have a space where he can work on his carpentry projects in peace.
Throughout the episode, the DIY SOS team works tirelessly and with incredible skill and dedication. They never give up on their mission to create a home that is safe, comfortable, and tailored to the needs of the Westlake family. In the end, they succeed in creating a truly inspiring space that will make a real difference to the lives of this deserving family.
