Drake & Josh, Orange Collection Season 1 Episode 3 Dune Buggy
- January 18, 2004
Drake & Josh, Orange Collection season 1 episode 3 "Dune Buggy" follows the titular stepbrothers as they try to fix up a dilapidated dune buggy in order to impress a girl. Drake has his eye on a new student named Tiffany, who is into extreme sports, and thinks that having a cool ride will win her over. Josh is initially hesitant to help with the project, but ultimately agrees when Drake promises to help him study for a biology test.
The episode opens with the boys trying to get the dune buggy running, but encountering a series of obstacles along the way. They enlist the help of their friend, Craig, who is a mechanical genius, but he only agrees to help if they can pay him $500. With no other options, Drake and Josh turn to their parents for a loan, but they are immediately shot down.
Undeterred, the boys continue to work on the dune buggy, scavenging parts from various sources and using their ingenuity to make repairs. Along the way, they encounter a rival mechanic named Buddy who tries to sabotage their efforts. They also run afoul of a group of bullies who want to destroy the dune buggy for no apparent reason.
Despite all of these setbacks, Drake and Josh manage to get the dune buggy in working order just in time for Tiffany to come over. She is impressed with the vehicle and invites Drake to join her on a dune buggy excursion. However, Josh is left behind, feeling betrayed by his stepbrother.
The rest of the episode focuses on Josh's attempts to get revenge on Drake. He gets a new friend, Mindy, to pretend to be his girlfriend in order to make Drake jealous. When that plan fails, he tries to win the affection of Tiffany's friend, who is less interested in extreme sports and more into Shakespeare. This leads to a hilarious scene in which Josh attempts to impress her by performing a monologue from "Hamlet."
In the end, Drake and Josh make up and apologize to each other. They realize that they are more important than any girl, and decide to focus on their friendship instead of trying to impress people. The episode ends with the two of them cruising around in the dune buggy, having fun and enjoying each other's company.
