As the second episode of the first season of Ghost Hunting with Jack Rose, New Theatre Royal presents a unique and exciting new location for the team's investigation. Situated in Portsmouth, England, the New Theatre Royal has a rich history spanning back almost 160 years, having undergone a number of renovations and refurbishments that have made it the impressive venue it is today. Despite the beauty of its current incarnation, there have been reports of paranormal activity over the years, with employees and patrons alike claiming to have seen ghostly apparitions and heard unexplained noises.

The episode begins with Jack Rose and his team arriving at the New Theatre Royal as they start their investigation into the claims of paranormal activity that have been made. As they begin their initial sweep of the building, they are immediately struck by the grandeur of the theatre itself, with its ornate architecture and impressive stage. However, the team's focus quickly shifts towards the areas of the building that are rumoured to be the most haunted, with the investigation beginning in the basement.

As they explore the damp and dimly lit basement, Jack and his team start to pick up on strange readings on their equipment. They hear odd noises and notice unexplained shadows moving around them. It is during this part of the investigation that they record one of their most significant pieces of evidence – a disembodied voice that they capture on their audio recorder. As they continue to explore, they experience even more unexplained phenomena, including doors slamming shut, and objects moving on their own.

Next, the team moves on to the first floor of the theatre, focusing on the dressing rooms and rehearsal spaces. Here, they speak to the performers working in the theatre, who share with them their own stories of strange happenings. One performer claims to have seen a figure of a woman in a long, white dress standing in one of the dressing rooms. Another recounts the story of a performer who saw a ghostly apparition during a rehearsal. To the team's surprise, they manage to capture a figure on their thermal imaging camera in one of the dressing rooms – adding to the list of paranormal activity that has been observed in that particular area.

The investigation then takes the team up to the upper levels of the theatre, where they begin looking into the stage areas and the lighting boxes. They speak to the technical staff who work in those areas, who share their own experiences of unexplained noises and shadowy figures. The team uses a variety of equipment, including EMF detectors and thermographic cameras, to see if they can pick up any readings or see anything unusual for themselves. However, it is the experiences of the staff and performers who speak to camera that leave the biggest impact, as they share chilling accounts of ghostly activity that they have witnessed in these spaces.

As the team moves towards the end of the investigation, they focus their attention on the auditorium itself, where the majority of the paranormal activity has been seen. Here, they set up a camera trap, aimed at the stage, in an attempt to capture any unusual activity that may occur. As they settle down to wait and see what happens, they are startled to see a figure moving on the stage when they review the footage later.

Overall, the second episode of Ghost Hunting with Jack Rose is a captivating and thrilling piece of paranormal investigation. With the beautiful and historic New Theatre Royal as its backdrop, the episode is a real showcase of the team's skills and expertise in the field of ghost hunting, as they attempt to shed light on some of the theatre's unsolved paranormal mysteries.
