Ice Age Giants is a documentary series from Curiosity Stream that explores some of the world's largest and most impressive creatures from the last Ice Age. The series is presented by three experts in their respective fields: Alice Roberts, a biological anthropologist; Dominic Frisby, a financial commentator and comedian; and Alun Hubbard, a glaciologist.

Over the course of three episodes, the series takes viewers on a journey through time to the last Ice Age, when the world was a very different place. The first episode, entitled "Land of the Sabre-Tooth," focuses on some of the biggest predators of the time, including the sabre-toothed cat, one of the most fearsome creatures ever to roam the planet. Through research, modeling and computer graphics, we get a vivid picture of these incredible animals in action, hunting and defending their territory. Roberts takes us through the anatomy and physiology of these amazing creatures, while Frisby explores their behavior and hunting strategies.

The second episode, "The Big Chill," looks at the impact of the Ice Age on the animals who lived through it. Hubbard takes us deep into the frozen wastes, where he studies the impact of climate change on the ice sheets, while Roberts and Frisby investigate how the freeze affected the animals who were forced to adapt to an increasingly hostile environment. We learn about the woolly mammoth and the giant sloth, and see how their size and specialized features helped them survive in an icy world.

In the final episode of the series, "Last of the Giants," the focus shifts to some of the biggest animals to ever walk the earth. We learn about the massive rhinoceros-like Elasmotherium, the immense Irish elk, and the towering cave bear, each of which stood taller than a modern grizzly. Roberts explores the anatomy and behavior of these massive animals, while Frisby tries to imagine what it would have been like to encounter one in the wild.

Throughout the series, Ice Age Giants is peppered with fascinating insights and memorable moments. We see how the animals were able to survive in such extreme conditions, and we learn about the incredible scientific discoveries that have been made as a result of our study of the Ice Age. The series is beautifully shot, with stunning landscapes and computer graphics that bring the animals to life in a way that is both awe-inspiring and approachable.

One of the strengths of Ice Age Giants is the expert team assembled to present it. Roberts is a talented communicator who brings her considerable scientific knowledge to bear in an accessible and engaging way. Frisby, a comedian and financial commentator by trade, brings a unique perspective to the series, but his enthusiasm and curiosity are infectious. Hubbard, the glaciologist, provides the necessary expertise to help us understand the ways in which the climate has changed over time, and his field work adds a sense of wonder to the proceedings.

Overall, Ice Age Giants is a must-see documentary series for anyone interested in natural history, evolution, and the distant past. The series presents a rich, detailed picture of a vanished world, and through it, we can glimpse some of the most remarkable creatures who ever lived. From the giant sloth to the Elasmotherium, from the sabre-toothed cat to the mammoth, this is a series that will captivate and enthrall viewers of all ages.
