Kimi wa Pet, which translates to You're My Pet, is a Japanese romance drama series that follows the life of Sumire Iwaya, a successful journalist who finds herself struggling to balance her personal and professional life. The first episode of Kimi wa Pet starts with Sumire returning home from a long day at work to find her boyfriend cheating on her with her coworker. Heartbroken and lost, she wanders the streets and ends up rescuing a young man who was being beaten up by a group of bullies. Despite the awkwardness of the situation, Sumire and Takeshi develop an unlikely bond and begin to rely on each other for support.

As the episode progresses, viewers get to see a glimpse of Sumire's personal life, including her strained relationship with her family and her ambitious career goals. We also get to see a different side of Takeshi, who is revealed to be a talented dancer but is struggling to find a job due to his lack of formal education.

The highlight of the episode comes towards the end when Sumire and Takeshi attend a work party together and Takeshi is mistaken for Sumire's boyfriend. Despite the awkwardness of the situation, Sumire feels a strange sense of comfort being able to introduce Takeshi to her colleagues as her own.
