In the Scottish Highlands, a small community is shaken by a tragic incident. A young local man, Niall Swift, is found dead at the bottom of the loch, sparking fear and suspicion among the villagers. Detective Annie Redford, a single mother who recently moved back home after years in the city, is called in to investigate the case.

Initially, Annie's arrival is met with resistance from the local police force, who feel she is an outsider and doesn't understand the community. But as she delves deeper into the investigation, Annie begins to uncover unsettling secrets about the town’s inhabitants and their connection to the legendary Loch Ness Monster.
