Doctor Finlay Full Episode Guide

  • On the night before the Scottish celebration of Hogmanay, a blizzard rages outside while Janet and the doctors enjoy a pleasant dinner at Arden House. Then Dr. Cameron experiences a medical emergency, and with the roads blocked and the power gone out, Dr. Finlay must rely on his own resources to save his colleague.

  • Dr. Finlay and Dr. Cameron visit a nearby convent after its nuns experience an outbreak of mysterious symptoms, but they have trouble gaining access to their cloistered patients. Dr. Napier meets a handsome schoolteacher and receives a tempting offer.

  • One of Dr. Finlay's patients confesses to murder on his deathbed. Wrestling with whether he should keep the man's secret as promised or try to exonerate the man convicted, Dr. Finlay turns amateur sleuth to solve the crime himself.

  • Angus's pharmacy is broken into, and a bottle of mercuric chloride is stolen. As Janet tries to sniff out the culprit, the doctors discern the reason for the theft: someone suffering from syphilis is attempting to take the outdated-and highly dangerous-mercury cure.

  • Feeling overworked, Dr. Finlay decides to take a holiday up to the Highlands for some exercise and relaxation. But his quiet vacation takes an eventful turn when he meets an intriguing young woman and her blind, communist father.

  • When a newborn baby is abandoned on the doorstep of Arden House, Dr. Finlay wants to alert the authorities immediately, but Dr. Napier begs him to hold off for a couple days while she tries to find the child's mother.

  • A married couple settles in Tannochbrae after decades spent working for the colonial government in India. Although they struggle to adjust to life back in Britain, they refuse to have any contact with their daughter in Edinburgh.

  • Dr. Finlay hospitalizes local legend the Brigadier, a highly decorated soldier, after he comes down with a high fever. Tensions in the community ignite against a group of itinerant Irish workers, as some people blame them for the Brigadier's illness.

  • After the school headmaster's son is diagnosed with diphtheria, the doctors race to save the boy and inoculate all the local children with the vaccine. Meanwhile, Dr. Cameron insists that a dying woman retain her right to confidentiality, which sets off a series of events that end in disaster.

  • When a gay man is violently attacked in Tannochbrae, Dr. Finlay experiences a conflict between friendship and professional responsibility. Janet is also torn between loyalties when she gets caught in the middle of a dispute between Dr. Cameron and her husband.

  • To promote women's health issues, Dr. Napier begins holding seminars and informing patients about birth control options, much to the dismay of the older members of the community. She also treats Greta Johnstone, a woman who has suffered for years with a painful and humiliating ailment.

  • Still traumatized by Dr. McKenna's death, Dr. Finlay becomes even more irritable when his mother visits Arden House and embarrasses him with family stories. His foul mood leads him into an argument with Dr. Napier over her treatment of elderly patient Annie Kirk.

  • Dr. Cameron's suspicions are aroused when a young lady, Millie Cairns, comes down with chicken pox for seemingly the second time. Meanwhile, Janet anxiously awaits the arrival of Doctor Finlay's new partner.

  • The reconstruction of Arden House is complete, but changes continue within its walls. Rhona has taken over the housekeeping duties, but Janet, despite being a newlywed, finds it hard to step away. Dr. Sean McKenna has joined the practice, and Dr. Finlay's old schoolmate, Dr. Jennifer Napier, comes to Tannochbrae.
