As the fourth episode of Locke & Key season 2, Forget Me Not, delves deeper into the mysteries surrounding the Locke family's ancestral home, Keyhouse, the tension mounts. In this episode, the show's lead characters Tyler, Kinsey, and Bode continue their efforts to uncover the hidden historical secrets of the keys and locks within the magical mansion's walls.
The episode opens with the trio exploring a new key they've discovered that has the power to erase people's memories. The fascinating and utterly terrifying consequences of wielding this key become apparent immediately. Tyler, Kinsey, and Bode each take turns losing chunks of their memory, and in their attempts to regain it, they start to realize how dangerous the key could be in the wrong hands.
At the same time, Ellie, their former neighbor, is struggling with the return of her memories of the time she spent in the magical world beyond a portal found in Keyhouse's well. Her memories reveal a sinister plot by the demonic spirit, Dodge, one that is seemingly connected to the mysterious and malevolent force that has been hunting the Locke family for generations.
As the Locke siblings and their mother try to solve the mystery surrounding the keys, their investigations lead them to an old mirror that can show them glimpses of the past. Through their time-traveling experiments, the Lockes come across a young Lucas, Dodge's original host, and get a glimpse at the toll that his possession had on him.
As the Locke siblings become more and more involved in the history of the house, they begin to question if their father's death was indeed an accident. Further, they question if their mother, who has retreated within herself, is hiding anything from them.
Forge Me Not is a gripping, action-packed episode that reveals more of the magical world that Locke & Key has created. It sets the groundwork for the rest of the season and leaves a lot of questions unanswered, which leaves the audience on the edge of their seat until the next episode. Despite the darkness that lingers throughout, we see the Locke siblings truly bonding and coming together to uncover the truth. Like previous episodes, there is a healthy balance between the fantasy elements and the drama of the family's dynamic, making it a must-watch for both those who love magical realism and those who love an intriguing mystery.
