In season 3, episode 10 of Maine Cabin Masters, titled The Twister Camp, the team of cabin masters takes on a unique project in the northern woods of Maine. The clients, a couple who share a passion for adventure and the great outdoors, have purchased a remote camp that was destroyed by a tornado.
The camp consists of a main cabin, a bunkhouse, and a sauna that were all heavily damaged by the twister. The cabin masters will have their work cut out for them as they attempt to restore the structures to their former state and make them comfortable for the adventurous couple.
Armed with their extensive knowledge of cabin building, the team gets to work. They first focus on the bunkhouse, which will be used as a sleeping quarters for the couple's guests. It will also double as a storage area for their outdoor gear. They repurpose some of the original materials salvaged from the camp and add new ones to create a space that is cozy and functional.
Next, attention turns to the main cabin, which is the center of the camp and will be used for cooking and dining. The team discovers that the foundation of the cabin has been severely damaged. They will need to jack up the structure and replace the rotting beams before they can even begin to work on the interior.
With the foundation fixed, the team moves on to the interior of the main cabin. They give it a rustic, cabin feel using natural wood, stone, and a wood-burning stove. They create custom cabinetry, a center island, and even a beer tap for the couple's home-brewed beer.
Finally, the team focuses on the sauna, which will be the perfect place for the couple to relax after a day of hiking, fishing, or kayaking. They build a new foundation, install a wood stove, and create a custom cedar interior that will take the couple's breath away.
Throughout the episode, the cabin masters encounter several challenges but they never lose sight of their goal. They work tirelessly to create a one-of-a-kind space that will be treasured by their clients for years to come. The Twister Camp is a testament to the team's skill, creativity, and determination.
