My Shopping Addiction on Oxygen is a reality based show that addresses the concerns of people who suffer from shopping addictions. The reality of the addiction of shopping is that it will leave many of the shoppers broke and declaring bankruptcy because the love of shopping has caused them to put aside many of their responsibilities in order to shop. Not only that but it also will focus on the fact that many of these people will take money that they do not have, i.e. the credit card charges in order to purchase more and more items. On one of the episodes of My Shopping Addiction, the woman they are trying to council is placed inside of a store like setting. In this shop are a few racks with clothes hanging on them. The woman looks at the clothes and says that she sure would like a top like this one and holds up a shirt. The man then proceeds to tell her that all these clothes that are hanging up on the racks are actually from her closet. The woman is quite stunned to learn that she actually has so many clothes that she really doesn't know what type of clothes she has or how many clothes she has. The purpose of this exercise is to show people that the need to shop is able to be overcome with the right type of therapy. The therapist will work with the shopper to determine how much of a budget they need to have in order to live and function day to day while teaching them what they can do in order to help save their financial crisis. This show is a good show to watch if you feel that you suffer from a bit of shopping addiction. The show is also simply funny to watch as you watch all the others trying every trick in the book to get back to their old shopping habits. All of these people are trying to overcome something and actually celebrities are no exception. There are a number of celebrities who also are faced with shopping addiction and who have gone broke due to their shopping addictions and have been spotted on the show. Simply a good show to sit back and watch on a weekly basis.
