Dev's personal and professional life is in a shambles as he struggles with his breakup with Francesca and his floundering television career. As he tries to put the pieces back together, he begins to notice the insurmountable obstacles that seem to stand in his way. In the first few episodes of "Master of None" Season 2, Dev tries to rekindle his relationship with his ex-girlfriend Rachel, but she's already engaged. Then, he tries to make it as an actor with a minor role on a bland TV drama. But he realizes he'd rather work on something more creatively fulfilling.

In episode 7, "Door #3," Dev takes his love for entertaining to the next level. Dev becomes inspired to mix his passion for food with his love of live performance when he attends a dinner party that brings together three chefs to cook in front of an audience. The chefs each create a meal using different ingredients, and a panel of judges (including a famous food critic) chooses the winning chef. Dev sees the opportunity to try something new and launches his own show in a Brooklyn warehouse. He invites three talented chefs to compete in front of an intimate audience, much like the dinner party he attended. Dev hosts the show, along with his friend Arnold.

The chefs create unique dishes inspired by their family heritage, and the audience gets to watch their creative process, tasting their dishes, and offering their feedback. While Dev is more comfortable on stage than he is on-camera, he quickly realizes that he has a knack for hosting and keeping the energy high. Arnold, on the other hand, struggles with his role as the show's color commentator—mostly because he doesn't have anything interesting to say.

As the night drags on, the audience and judges become more and more invested in the competition. However, Dev soon realizes that the winner might have cheated. As he investigates, he starts to learn things about each of the chefs that make him question his own ability to judge them. Dev tries to do the right thing, but things don't always go as planned.

"Door #3" is one of the more fun and lighthearted episodes of "Master of None" Season 2. Dev's entrepreneurial spirit is infectious, and his excitement for his new project is palpable. The episode is surprisingly tense, with the competition element adding a layer of drama to an otherwise jovial event.

On top of that, the episode is also a poignant commentary on cultural heritage. Each chef draws on their personal history to create their dishes, resulting in a celebration of food and culture. Even Dev—whose parents immigrated to America from India—talks about how food is a way to connect with his roots and remember where he comes from.

There are some problems with the episode, however. The show's exploration of cultural identity is left unexplored at times. While the chefs' stories offer some insight into their backgrounds, there is little discussion about how their experiences might inform the food they create. Additionally, it's frustrating that the episode's climax is left unresolved. While it makes sense from a storytelling perspective, it also feels like a bit of a cheat.

However, the episode is still a standout in "Master of None" Season 2. It's a fun, engaging story about creativity, identity, and food. And, like most episodes of the show, it's full of heart and humor. While the show's second season has received mixed reviews, "Door #3" is a reminder of what makes "Master of None" so special.
