Kimmy Schmidt lived for years in the compound of a doomsday cult, until she had had enough of it. She escapes and makes her way to New York City, where she runs into a wealthy woman in Manhattan named Jacqueline and winds up working for her as a nanny. Can Kimmy adjust to life away from the cult, all the while trying to take care of Jacqueline's son and step-daughter?
