In season 1, episode 4, titled "Oktoberfails", the contestants are challenged to make traditional German baked goods, including Black Forest cake and pretzels.
The first challenge is to make a Schwarzwälder Kirschtorte, also known as Black Forest cake. The contestants are given three hours to recreate this classic dessert, which consists of layers of chocolate sponge cake, whipped cream, and cherries. The judges, comedian Christian Springer and pastry chef Bernd Siefert, are looking for accuracy in the recipe and presentation.
