- May 3, 2011
As the NBA Playoffs continue, the Early Round Classics bring us back to the 2011 season where the Boston Celtics take on the Miami Heat in game two on May 3rd.
The Celtics, led by their Big Three of Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett, and Ray Allen, had fought their way to the playoffs with a 56-26 record. On the other side of the court, the Heat's Big Three of LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, and Chris Bosh were looking to make their mark in Miami.
The first game of the series had been a close one with the Heat coming out on top, but game two would prove to be even more intense. The Celtics came out strong, with Pierce and Allen leading the way with their shooting. The Heat, however, were not to be outdone and kept pace with some excellent play from James and Wade.
As the game progressed, tensions began to rise. Players from both teams were getting physical, pushing and shoving after plays and getting up close and personal during free throws. The referees had their work cut out for them, trying to control the situation and prevent any serious altercations.
Despite the rough play, both teams continued to battle it out on the court. The lead changed hands several times throughout the game, with each team refusing to back down. In the end, it all came down to the final minutes of the fourth quarter.
With just seconds left on the clock, the Celtics found themselves down by three points. Pierce received the ball and launched a three-point shot that missed, but was rebounded by Garnett. Garnett made an incredible pass to Allen, who was waiting just outside the three-point line. Allen took the shot and sank it, tying the game and sending it into overtime.
The overtime period was just as intense as the rest of the game, with both teams fighting tooth and nail for every point. In the end, it was the Heat who came out on top, winning 102-101.
The game was a classic example of playoff basketball at its finest. Both teams played their hearts out, leaving everything they had on the court. The Celtics may have lost the game, but they made it clear that they were not going to go down without a fight.
For fans of basketball, this episode of NBA Playoffs Early Round Classics is a must-watch. It not only showcases some of the greatest players in the game, but also highlights the intense level of competition that can only be found in the NBA playoffs.
