Ep 9. The Charity Caper

In No Good Nick season 1 episode 9 titled The Charity Caper, Nick's plan to steal the money from the charity gala takes an unexpected turn. The episode starts with Nick and her family getting ready for the charity event, where the money raised will be used to help the less fortunate. Nick seems excited to participate in the event, but her true intentions are far from what she shows.

The Plan

Nick's plan is to steal the envelope containing the big donation and replace it with a fake one, which she created herself. However, when they arrive at the event, Nick and her accomplice Will realize that the envelope with the money is nowhere to be found. They start panicking, and Nick decides to improvise her plan. She volunteers to become one of the servers to get closer to the auction items and find a new way to steal the money.

Into The Vortex

Meanwhile, Liz and Ed are proud of Nick, believing that she has finally seen the importance of helping others. In the event, Liz meets Nick's math teacher, who tells her how Nick has struggled in her class. Liz is surprised and concerned, as Nick has told them that she was doing well in all her classes.

Ed meets his old high school classmate Sandra, who is now running a charity organization. The two of them hit it off instantly, and Ed is impressed by all the good work Sandra has been doing. After a while, Ed finds out that the envelope with the money is missing, and he starts to investigate the event.

The Twist

Nick's plan to steal the money gets complicated when she realizes that the auction items are being guarded incredibly well. When she finally finds an opening to take the money, she is caught by Liz. Nick tries to play it cool and says that she was only trying to help by hiding the money. Liz trusts Nick and tells her she can hold the envelope for safekeeping.

Things get even more complicated when Ed discovers that the missing envelope was in fact confiscated by the IRS, who froze the funds for investigation into the charity's financial practices. Suddenly, Nick's plan is not only foiled, but she is now holding the real envelope containing the frozen funds.

The Aftermath

Nick is feeling guilty about her actions and decides to come clean to Liz and Ed. Nick tells them everything and confesses that her real name is Nicole Patterson. Liz and Ed are shocked and hurt, as they had started to see Nick as part of their family. They feel betrayed and decide to take Nick to the police.

However, before they can do so, Nick tells them about her real parents and the reason why she came to live with them. She explains that her parents were victims of the charity and lost everything they had. Nick came to the event to exact revenge on the charity and the people who oppressed her family.

Liz and Ed are doubtful but decide to give Nick a chance to prove herself. They go to the charity headquarters, where Nick shows them all the evidence she has collected over the years. She had been planning her revenge for a long time and had been collecting evidence on all the wrongdoings of the charity.

The trio is met with resistance from the charity, but with Nick's evidence and Ed's connections, they are able to get the frozen funds released and give them to the people who had been wronged by the charity.

In the end, Nick is forgiven by Liz and Ed, who have now seen her true character. Liz gets into the school system and moves her into the creative writing class with a tutor. Nick starts to enjoy her time with her new family and feels grateful for what they have done for her.
