In Queens of Mystery season 1 episode 3, "Death by Vinyl, First Chapter", Detective Sergeant Matilda Stone, who is also a mystery novelist, investigates the mysterious death of Ronnie Chase, a record store owner. Ronnie was found dead in his shop, and all evidence points to murder.
Matilda and her niece, Detective Constable Cat Stone, begin their investigation by looking into Ronnie's personal life. They discover that he had a secret son with a famous rock star, and that he had been blackmailing the rock star for years.
As Matilda and Cat continue their investigation, they uncover more secrets and suspects, including Ronnie's business partner, his ex-wife, and a rival record store owner. They also learn that Ronnie was part of a secret club of vinyl collectors, and that they may hold the key to solving the crime.
Meanwhile, Matilda's other nieces, Beth and Jane, are busy with their own mysteries. Beth is investigating a missing person case, while Jane is trying to uncover the truth behind a local legend about a cursed book.
