Quirke is a drama series set in 1950s Dublin, Ireland. Created by Andrew Davies and based on the novels by Benjamin Black, the show follows the exploits of a brooding, introspective pathologist named Quirke (Gabriel Byrne), who becomes involved in various criminal investigations.

In the second episode of the first season, titled "The Silver Swan," Quirke investigates the mysterious death of a young woman named Deirdre Hunt (Charlene McKenna), who was found drowned in the river just outside Dublin.
