Ep 4. Essex

As Richard Wilson travels through Essex on his road trip, he discovers the county's fascinating history, culture, and scenic beauty. In this episode, he visits the seaside town of Southend-on-Sea, where he explores the famous pier and discovers how it has changed over the years.

Richard also takes a trip to Colchester, which is said to be Britain's oldest recorded town. Here, he learns about the town's Roman history, including the remains of a Roman temple and its well-preserved walls. He also visits the first Roman-built church in Britain, which was later converted into a Norman castle.

Along the way, Richard meets some of the locals, including a man who is passionate about restoring historic organs, and a group of enthusiasts who are restoring an old train station.

Richard also takes a hike through Epping Forest, which covers over 6,000 acres of ancient woodland. Here, he learns about the forest's history and discovers some of the wildlife that can be found there, including deer and rare bird species.

Later, Richard visits the town of Chelmsford, where he meets a beekeeper who shows him how honey is produced and what makes it unique to the area. He also enjoys some local cuisine, including a delicious seafood platter at a local restaurant.

As his journey through Essex comes to an end, Richard reflects on all the different experiences he has had and the people he has met. He leaves with a newfound appreciation for the county's rich history and diverse culture.
