In the seventh episode of season 10 of Rick Steves' Europe, viewers are treated to an exploration of some of the most exciting and colorful festivals across Europe. This episode is a continuation of the previous episode on European festivals but focuses on different events and cultural celebrations.

Starting in Spain, Rick takes us through the colorful streets of Valencia for Las Fallas festival. This is a five-day celebration where locals construct giant, colorful figures out of wood, paper-mache, and other materials. These figures are then paraded through the city streets before being burnt to the ground in a giant bonfire. Rick takes us through the process of creating these impressive sculptures and also explains the history and traditions behind this unique festival.

Next, Rick heads to Italy to celebrate Carnevale in Venice. The city is transformed into a carnival of masks and costumes during this event, with thousands of people flocking to the city to take part in the festivities. Rick shows viewers the intricately designed masks, ornate costumes, and traditional foods that are all part of the celebration. He also takes us on a gondola ride through the beautiful canals of Venice.

From Italy, Rick takes us to the Netherlands for King's Day, which is the national holiday to celebrate the Dutch king's birthday. The whole country turns orange for the day as people wear orange clothes and accessories. Rick joins in the fun by taking part in a boat parade, street parties, and even trying out some of the traditional Dutch foods.

The episode then takes us to Hungary for the Budapest Wine Festival. Rick takes a stroll through the city's castle district, which is filled with wine tasting tents, musical performances, and food stalls. He also takes a ride on a funicular railway, giving viewers a panoramic view of the city.

Finally, Rick travels to the Czech Republic for the Bohemian Carnival. This carnival dates back to the 18th century and is still celebrated in a small town in the Czech Republic. The town is transformed into a giant puppet theater during the carnival, with giant puppets and elaborate costumes paraded through the streets. Rick visits a costume workshop, where he sees some of the intricate details and techniques that go into creating the costumes and puppets.

Throughout the episode, Rick provides viewers with historical context and cultural insights into each of the festivals. He also highlights the similarities and differences between the celebrations across different countries. This episode provides a great opportunity to experience the vibrant and unique cultures of Europe through the lens of these lively festivals.
