Flashback: 10 years ago. Ravi, a charming fisherman, playfully narrates his nightmare to his wife, Nagamma. They seem smitten by each other. Ravi talks about him being swallowed by a shark and how he negotiates with the shark to save himself. The nightmare seems to be an allegory of their current financial situation where their boat is pledged and the loan sharks would soon swallow them alive. Ravi is happy when he gets a call from his "Boss" who offers to pull the boat out of the mortgage. He is secretive about his Boss and the assignment. One night, Naagamma she sees Ravi loading 8little girls into his boat. She demands an explanation, but he promises that this is his last job with the Boss, gags her and puts her in the boat's hold along with the girls when the Boss arrives.
