Ep 9. Assassins

In The Crown season 1 episode 9, entitled "Assassins," tensions between Britain and Egypt have reached an all-time high, as members of the Egyptian government call for an end to British occupation. King Farouk of Egypt, sensing an opportunity to assert his authority, orders the British ambassador to leave the country, and takes steps to nationalize the Suez Canal.

In response, the British government decides to send a top-level delegation to Egypt, including Prime Minister Anthony Eden and Foreign Secretary Selwyn Lloyd. However, their mission is complicated by the fact that a group of Egyptian nationalists, known as the Muslim Brotherhood, are plotting to assassinate Eden and Lloyd as they make their way through Cairo.

As the delegation travels through the city, tensions are high and danger seems to lurk around every corner. Meanwhile, back in Britain, Queen Elizabeth is struggling with her own doubts and fears, both about the situation in Egypt and about her own abilities as a leader.

With tensions mounting and danger at every turn, the fate of Britain's position in Egypt hangs in the balance, as does the safety of its top officials. As the episode comes to a close, viewers are left on the edge of their seats, wondering what the future holds for the British Empire.
