The Doctor is a British science fiction television series created by Sydney Newman and produced by the BBC. The show follows the adventures of a time-traveling alien known only as The Doctor, who travels through time and space in a TARDIS, a spaceship disguised as a blue British police box. The show has been on the air since 1963, and the newest iteration of the series began with the 2005 episode, "Rose."

Season 1, Episode 1 of The Doctor, also named "The Doctor," opens with a bright flash of light and a man falling to the ground in the middle of a deserted street. The man, who is dressed in a slightly outdated suit and trench coat, rises unsteadily to his feet and stumbles off into the night.

Later that day, we meet Rose Tyler, a young woman who works at a department store and lives with her mother in a small apartment in London. Rose is in a dead-end relationship with her boyfriend, Mickey, and her job is uninspiring. She longs for something more, but can't seem to find it.

That changes when she meets the strange man who fell to the ground earlier in the episode. While working a late shift at the store, Rose hears a strange noise behind her and turns to find this man standing a few feet away from her. He's odd and a bit scary, but he's also fascinating. He tells her that he can help her, and suddenly, Rose finds herself on an incredible adventure that will change her life forever.

Along the way, Rose learns that the man she's with is actually an alien known as The Doctor, and that he's been traveling through time and space for centuries. He's a Time Lord from the planet Gallifrey, and he's unique in that he's the last of his kind. He has the ability to regenerate his body when it's damaged, which is how he's managed to stay alive for so long.

The Doctor introduces Rose to his TARDIS, a bigger-on-the-inside spaceship that can travel through time and space. He explains that they're currently in 21st-century London, but that they can travel anywhere they want to go. Rose is understandably skeptical at first, but as she sees the unbelievable things that The Doctor can do, she quickly becomes a believer.

The two of them set off on their first adventure together, which takes them to the end of the world. They land on a spaceship that's hurtling toward a dying sun, and they meet the last surviving member of the human race. This woman, named Cassandra, is a stretchy, skin-covered creature who wears a mask to cover her true form. She's determined to live forever, and she'll stop at nothing to achieve that goal.

The Doctor and Rose have to work together to stop Cassandra's plan, and they learn a lot about each other in the process. The Doctor is gruff and impatient, but he's also loyal and kind. Rose is brave and resourceful, but she's also vulnerable and unsure of herself. Together, they make a great team.

At the end of the episode, The Doctor tells Rose that he wants her to travel with him. He believes that she's special and that she has a lot to offer him. Rose is hesitant at first, but she realizes that she can't go back to her old life. She decides to take a leap of faith and join The Doctor on his adventures.

Overall, "The Doctor" is a thrilling first episode that sets up the rest of the season beautifully. It introduces us to The Doctor and the world he inhabits, as well as the character of Rose Tyler, who becomes a beloved companion throughout the series. The episode is full of action, humor, and heart, and it leaves you eager to see where The Doctor and Rose will go next.
