The Orville: New Horizons Season 1 Episode 1 Old Wounds

As a new, hopeful age of space exploration dawns, Captain Ed Mercer of the USS Orville is presented with a unique opportunity to redeem himself and his career. After a painful divorce and a string of misfortunes, Mercer is ready to turn his life around and lead his crew on the adventure of a lifetime.

But before the mission can even begin, tensions are already running high between Mercer and his First Officer and ex-wife, Kelly Grayson. The two are forced to put their personal issues aside and work together when they receive their first mission: to retrieve a new technology from an old friend of Mercer's, a scientist named Pria.

The mission seems relatively straightforward, but things quickly become complicated when Pria's true intentions are called into question and Mercer must decide whether to trust his friend or risk everything to safeguard the safety of his crew.

As they face unexpected dangers and confront their own personal demons, the crew of the Orville must learn to work together and truly become a family, if they hope to survive the challenges of deep space exploration.
