The Prince is an American adult animated sitcom television series that premiered on HBO Max in August 2021. The show follows the adventures and misadventures of a fictionalized version of Prince George of Cambridge as he navigates the ups and downs of being a member of the royal family.
In season 1 episode 6, titled "Vacation," Prince George and his family head off on a summer holiday to escape the stresses of royal life. The episode opens with the family boarding a private jet, with George excitedly commenting on the luxurious amenities and his father commenting on the exorbitant cost of the trip. As they fly towards their destination, the family plays a game of "I Spy," with George becoming increasingly frustrated with his family's lack of enthusiasm for the game.
Upon arrival, the family is greeted by their staff and taken to their lavish villa, where they will be staying for the duration of their trip. George is immediately enamored with the pool and spends most of his time lounging on the floaties, trying out all the different flavors of ice cream, and generally enjoying the freedom of not being cooped up at home. His mother, however, is less thrilled with the trip and spends much of her time on the phone, taking care of royal business.
Meanwhile, George's grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, is left behind at the palace and is eager to find some excitement of her own. She invites her close friend, Camilla Parker-Bowles, to join her for a day out on the town. The two women dress up incognito and go on a wild shopping spree, indulging in all kinds of frivolous luxuries. As they meander around the city, they stumble upon an underground nightclub and decide to check it out. What follows is a hilarious montage of the queen and Camilla dancing and partying the night away, much to the surprise of the other club-goers.
Back at the villa, George tries to get his family to engage in some fun activities, but they are content to lounge around and relax. In a bit of a rebellion, George decides to sneak off into town on his own to explore and have some adventures. Armed with some local currency and a sense of curiosity, George sets off to see what he can find. He ends up meeting a group of local kids who show him around and introduce him to some traditional foods and customs. George has the time of his life, but as night falls, he realizes he doesn't know how to get back to the villa.
The episode ends with a cliffhanger of sorts, as the family realizes George is missing and launches a frantic search for him. Queen Elizabeth, still recovering from her wild night out, steps in to help with the search and uses her connections to track George down. The episode ends with the family reuniting and reflecting on the ups and downs of their vacation.
Overall, season 1 episode 6 of The Prince is a funny, light-hearted take on the royal family and their vacation adventures. The show continues to deftly balance humor with heart, delivering an entertaining and engaging story that keeps viewers invested in the characters' lives.
