As soon as he arrived in Tokyo, Joe Yabuki was determined to take the boxing world by storm. After all, it had been a long and grueling road to get to this point, but he had finally made it. Still, he knew that the path ahead of him would be rocky. The competition was fierce, and Joe would have to work harder than ever before if he wanted to succeed.
In episode 1 of Tomorrow's Joe 2, entitled "The Tange Gym... Is Indestructible," we find Joe still on the hunt for a boxing gym that he can call home. He's been training hard at various gyms around Tokyo, but he hasn't found a place that feels quite right. That is, until he stumbles upon the Tange Gym.
The Tange Gym is run by a gruff and surly trainer named Tange. Despite his rough exterior, Tange has a reputation for producing some of the best boxers in the country. Joe is immediately drawn to the gym's gritty atmosphere and the intense training regimen that Tange puts his fighters through.
But getting accepted into the Tange Gym won't be easy. Tange is notoriously selective about who he allows to train under him, and Joe will have to prove himself in a grueling test of endurance and skill if he wants to be considered.
Luckily, Joe is no stranger to hard work. He's been training tirelessly for years, and he's confident that he can handle whatever Tange throws his way. But even he isn't prepared for the brutal training regime that the Tange Gym puts its boxers through.
From early morning runs through the streets of Tokyo, to grueling sparring matches with some of the gym's top fighters, Joe quickly realizes that if he wants to succeed at the Tange Gym, he'll have to push himself harder than he ever has before.
And push himself he does. Throughout the course of the episode, we see Joe work through injuries, struggle to keep up with more experienced fighters, and push himself beyond his own limits. But despite the challenges he faces, he remains determined to succeed.
As the episode draws to a close, Joe has made some impressive progress. He's gained the respect of his fellow fighters at the Tange Gym, and Tange himself seems to be warming up to him. But there's still a long road ahead. The competition in Tokyo is fierce, and there are plenty of other fighters who are just as hungry as Joe is.
Will Joe be able to find success at the Tange Gym? And if he does, will he be able to rise to the top of the boxing world? We'll have to tune in to future episodes of Tomorrow's Joe 2 to find out.
