Kimmy Goes to a Hotel! is the eighth episode of the second season of the hit Netflix original series, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. This comedy series is created by Tina Fey and Robert Carlock and stars Ellie Kemper in the lead role of Kimmy Schmidt, a woman who was held captive in an underground bunker for 15 years and is now trying to adjust to life in New York City.
In this episode, Kimmy decides to take a solo trip and stay at a fancy hotel, away from her roommates Titus, Lillian, and Jacqueline. While at the hotel, Kimmy tries to enjoy the luxury trappings of a five-star establishment but quickly finds herself embroiled in a series of strange and surreal situations.
At the hotel, Kimmy runs into an old friend from her bunker, Cyndee Pokorny, who is also trying to adjust to life on the outside. Cyndee is now a social media influencer and has enjoyed some success thanks to her viral video, "A Little Bit Alexis," which was inspired by Alexis Rose in Schitt's Creek.
As Kimmy and Cyndee catch up, they realize that they have very little in common and that their friendship was based on their shared trauma in the bunker. This realization leads to some funny and poignant moments as the two navigate their complicated pasts and uncertain futures.
Meanwhile, Titus becomes convinced that one of the hotel's guests, a wealthy woman named Ms. Frizzle, is actually D'Fwan, his nemesis from his days in the "Venus 691" musical. He conspires with Lillian to get closer to her and uncover the truth, but their efforts only lead to more confusion and hilarity.
Back at Kimmy's apartment, Jacqueline is dealing with her own personal drama as she tries to reconnect with her ex-husband, Julian. She enlists the help of Xan, her teenage stepdaughter, to track him down, but their road trip takes some unexpected turns.
Overall, Kimmy Goes to a Hotel! is a standout episode in a season full of laughs and heart. It showcases the show's signature blend of absurdist humor and emotional depth, as well as the talented ensemble cast led by Ellie Kemper. Fans of the show will not be disappointed by this episode's twists and turns, and newcomers will be hooked by its quirky charm and clever writing.
