Victim Number 8 is a Spanish-language crime-thriller series that premiered on the Spanish network ETB1 in 2018 and has since become available on Netflix. Set in the bustling city of Bilbao, the series follows the investigation of a terrorist attack that leaves numerous dead and injured in its wake.

Season 1, Episode 1 - "Omar" - introduces us to the character of Omar, a young Muslim man who finds himself in the wrong place at the wrong time. The episode also introduces us to two of the detectives leading the investigation: Iñaki and Ane. Iñaki is an aging investigator who's seen it all and been through it all. Ane, on the other hand, is a young and inexperienced detective who's moved to Bilbao from the city of Madrid.

As Omar's story unfolds, the detectives' investigation follows a series of leads that include the discovery of a van used by the terrorists and a series of clues that lead them to investigate Omar's family and their potential involvement. Meanwhile, Omar's girlfriend, Ana, struggles to come to terms with his involvement in the bombing and she uncovers some secrets about his past that may provide a motive for his supposed actions.

Set against the backdrop of the Basque Country and inspired by real-life events, "Omar" sets the stage for a gripping crime thriller that explores the prejudices and tensions of a society grappling with the aftermath of a terrorist attack. As the story unfolds, we're left wondering who's really behind the bombing, and whether or not Omar is truly innocent as he claims.
