The movie A Mighty Wind was made by the same people who produced the cult classics Best In Show, Waiting For Guffmann, and the two wildly popular Spinal Tap movies. All have the same core cast of actors and the same brilliant nose for satire. While Best In Show was about the dogs and their owners at dog shows and "Guffmann" was about small town theatre, A Mighty Wind is all about folk music. Released in 2003, A Mighty Wind stars Eugene Levy and Christopher Guest (who also directed), among others. It's about a folk music concert for a recently deceased promoter, and what it takes to bring back to the stage many performers who've been out of the business, and some who've just been plain "out of it" altogether for years! If you know your folk music you'll be able to say "ah, they're poking fun at so-and-so" with this guy or this group. And though it may seem cheesy in places, remember it's meant to be. And though the music might seem old fashioned, listen close to the words and you'll be laughing on a whole different level.
