Edge of Seventeen

The film entitled Edge of Seventeen is about the life of Eric. Eric is a young man who is so excited about discovering new things in life especially his capabilities. He has a very good friend known as Maggie and both of them are in their teens. Eric and Maggie get recruited to work at an amusement park in summer and while there they get involved in some mischievous deeds. They become friends with their manager Angie, who is a lesbian and also a gay student known as Rod.

Maggie who likes Eric, hopes that someday Eric will notice her and be attracted to her. Rod and Eric go out on a date after which Eric starts behaving different. Rod leaves for Ohio. Eric starts behaving and dressing like a lady and his parents notice the changes. He attends a party with Maggie during which his classmates accuse him of being gay. Eric gets uncomfortable and leaves.

That night he did not go home but rushed to a gay disco owned by his former lesbian boss Angie. While there he is comforted and encouraged by Angie who tells him to do what he thinks pleases him and not what other people think. He dances with a gay guy and afterwards leaves.

Somedays later he goes to Maggie's house and confides in her about him being gay and is surprised that Maggie is not shocked. She instead consoles him and shows some understanding. Maggie is not surprised because she already suspected the relationship Eric had with Rod. Eric keeps on visiting Angie's bar where he gets a chance to meet his companions.

Eric comes across Jonathan at the bar and when he cannot find him again he decides to go and look for him. He ends up locating Rob, with whom he has his first encounter and returns home. His mother yells at him for what he is doing and he goes out to see Angie, who encourages him to stick to being himself.
