Highly Dangerous is a 1950 British spy thriller film that stars Margaret Lockwood, Dane Clark, Marius Goring, and Wilfrid Hyde-White. The movie is directed by Roy Ward Baker and produced by George H. Brown. The screenplay is written by Eric Ambler. The story starts with a British entomologist named Frances Gray, played by Margaret Lockwood, who is working on a research project in the Balkans. She is asked to return to London to testify at a trial involving a biological weapon that has been stolen by enemy spies. Reluctantly, she agrees and is soon embroiled in a dangerous game of cat and mouse with the enemy agents.

On her way to London, Frances is warned by a fellow passenger that she is being followed. She doesn't take the warning seriously at first, but soon realizes that the danger is real. She is contacted by a man named Peter Illing, played by Marius Goring, who claims to be a British intelligence agent. He tells her that he needs her help to retrieve the stolen biological weapon and save the world from a deadly outbreak.

Frances is skeptical and reluctant to get involved, but Peter convinces her that she is the only one who can help. He explains that she is the only one who knows how to handle the deadly bug, and her expertise is needed to contain the outbreak.

Frances agrees to help and is soon on her way to a remote island in Scotland where the enemy agents are keeping the stolen virus. She poses as a tourist and befriends a man named Bill Casey, played by Dane Clark, who is also on the island. Bill is a journalist who is investigating the same story, and he agrees to help Frances in her mission.

Together, Frances and Bill try to find a way to get their hands on the virus without getting caught by the enemy spies. They encounter many obstacles along the way, including a treacherous mountain climb and a dangerous encounter with a hostile Scottish family. The tension is high throughout the movie, and the viewer is kept guessing until the very end.

The performances in the movie are excellent, particularly Margaret Lockwood's portrayal of the brave and determined Frances Gray. Dane Clark is also impressive as the rugged journalist who helps Frances in her mission. Marius Goring's character is mysterious and shadowy, and the viewer is never certain whether he is really on Frances's side.

The settings are stunning, with the Scottish landscapes providing a beautiful backdrop for the action. The cinematography is top-notch, with some scenes shot from unusual angles to create a sense of suspense and danger.

The movie is a classic spy thriller, with all the elements of a great suspense story. It has action, danger, and intrigue, as well as a healthy dose of romance between Frances and Bill. The dialogue is sharp and witty, and the pacing is perfect, with never a dull moment.

Overall, Highly Dangerous is an excellent movie that will keep the viewer on the edge of their seat from beginning to end. It is a must-see for fans of spy thrillers, and a testament to the golden age of British cinema.
