Jallian Wala Bagh is a 1997 Indian historical drama. It is a dramatization of the 1919 massacre of nonviolent Indian protesters at Amritsar, Punjab. Roughly 1000 people were killed as British soldiers shot them as they tried to escape through two gates. Nothing was done afterwards by the British authorities and the event turned into a rallying cause for the Indian people. The film deals with themes of nationalism, patriotism and nonviolent protest.
