Love is in the Air is a 2013 romantic comedy film directed by Alexandre Castagnetti. The movie tells the story of former lovers Julie and Antoine, who coincidentally meet on a flight from New York to Paris, three years after their breakup. The movie is set almost exclusively aboard a transatlantic flight, as the two protagonists try to navigate their past while avoiding the awkwardness of their present.

Julie, played by Ludivine Sagnier, is a professional tennis player who has just won a tournament in New York. Antoine, played by Nicolas Bedos, is a successful writer who is about to get married in Paris. As fate would have it, they end up sitting next to each other on the plane.

The initial encounter between the two exes is anything but smooth. Antoine is surprised and uncomfortable to see Julie, while Julie is still hurt by the way their relationship ended. However, as the long flight progresses, they start to thaw towards each other and reminisce about their relationship.

The film alternates between scenes on the airplane and flashbacks to their relationship, which help to fill in the gaps and provide context for their current situation. Through the flashbacks, we learn that Julie and Antoine were a couple for three years before Antoine abruptly broke up with her by email. This left Julie devastated and unable to move on.

During the flight, Antoine tries to convince Julie that he made a mistake by letting her go and that he still loves her. But Julie is cautious and doesn't want to get hurt again. Their chemistry is palpable, however, and it's clear that they still have feelings for each other.

As they continue to talk, they discover that they have both changed in the three years since their breakup. Julie has become more focused on her tennis career, while Antoine has become jaded and disillusioned with his writing.

The tension between them is palpable, and the audience is left wondering whether they will end up getting back together. The dialogue is witty and charming, and the chemistry between Sagnier and Bedos is undeniable.

One of the standout scenes of the movie occurs when Antoine starts playing the piano in the airplane lounge, and Julie joins in with her violin. It's a beautiful moment that showcases the emotional depth of their connection.

Throughout the movie, there are several subplots involving the other passengers on the plane, including a young couple with relationship issues and a nerdy guy who is trying to impress a girl. These subplots provide a welcome distraction from the tension between Julie and Antoine and help to break up the monotony of the airplane setting.

The movie also features some stunning aerial shots of the ocean and clouds, which add to the feeling of being suspended in mid-air with the characters.

Overall, Love is in the Air is a charming and entertaining romantic comedy with some touching moments and a lot of heart. The two leads deliver strong performances and have great chemistry, making the audience root for their characters to get back together. The airplane setting is an inspired choice, adding a unique and claustrophobic element to the story.

Love Is In The Air is a 2014 comedy with a runtime of 1 hour and 36 minutes. It has received mostly poor reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 6.3 and a MetaScore of 49.
