National Lampoon's Van Wilder is a 2002 comedy film directed by Walt Becker and written by Brent Goldberg and David T. Wagner, starring Ryan Reynolds, Tara Reid, and Tim Matheson. The movie is centered around Van Wilder (Ryan Reynolds), a seventh-year college student who has no intention of graduating. He is the campus party organizer and the life of every party in the college. Van has become so popular on campus that his antics have created a cult-like following among the students. But everything changes when his rich father, Vance Wilder Sr. (Tim Matheson), refuses to pay for his tuition anymore, forcing Van to come up with a plan to raise the funds required to complete his schooling.

The plot of the movie follows Van's journey to keep his college life going by any means necessary, while also trying to win the heart of Gwen Pearson (Tara Reid), a reporter for the school's paper who is writing a story about Van's lifestyle. Although Gwen despises Van at first, she begins to warm up to him as he shows her what a great guy he is underneath all the partying and pranks.

Throughout the movie, the audience is treated to a series of hilarious pranks, stunts, and parties. Van's best friend Taj Mahal (Kal Penn) is always by his side throughout the movie, helping him plan elaborate schemes to keep the college life going. Taj Mahal is a transfer student from India who worships Van and becomes his right-hand man.

As the movie progresses, Van's antics keep getting bigger and crazier, leading the college into serious trouble with the dean of the school. The dean, played by Curtis Armstrong, has had it with Van and his rowdy behavior. He tries everything to get Van expelled, even going so far as to make him fail his final exams by throwing him a surprise party on exam day.

The movie's climax is a fabulous party thrown by Van in an attempt to raise funds to pay off his tuition fees. The party is a huge success, with students from all over the college showing up to party with Van. But just when everything seems to be going right, the dean shows up with the police, putting a stop to the party. In a heartwarming moment, however, the students band together to help Van pay his tuition fees, showing how much they truly care for him.
