The Thompsons is a 2012 horror movie directed by the Butcher Brothers and is a spin-off from their previous film, The Hamiltons. The movie features the titular Thompson family, who are on the run from the law after the events of the first movie. The Thompson siblings, Francis, Darlene, Lenny, and David (played by Cory Knauf, Mackenzie Firgens, Samuel Child, and Joseph McKelheer respectively), have left their hometown of California and are now hiding out in rural Britain. But soon enough, they realize that their current locale is not as safe as they thought it would be, and they have to deal with a new set of problems.

The Thompsons are not your average family: they are vampires. Unfortunately for them, they are not as powerful as other vampire clans, and they are constantly on the brink of starvation. The only way they can satiate their thirst for blood is by killing people, an act which puts them on the radar of local law enforcement.

The police are led by a determined detective, Charlie (played by Ryan Hartwig), who is assigned to track down the Thompsons after they kill a couple who have taken them in. Meanwhile, the Thompsons learn that they are not the only vampires in town when they cross paths with another clan led by the charismatic Johnny (played by Sean Cronin).

The Thompsons soon realize that they are outmatched and outnumbered by Johnny and his gang. But they do not give up without a fight, and with the help of a human ally, a young girl named Alice (played by Elizabeth Henstridge), they plan to take down the other vampires once and for all.

The movie has a good mix of action, gore, and vampire lore that is sure to satisfy horror fans. The acting performances by the cast are also commendable, especially Cory Knauf, who shines as Francis, the reluctant leader of the Thompsons.

Overall, The Thompsons is a good horror movie that is worth watching if you are a fan of the genre. It is a spin-off from The Hamiltons, but you do not need to have watched the first movie to understand the plot. The Thompsons can stand on its own, and it is a good addition to the vampire horror sub-genre.

The Thompsons is a 2012 horror movie with a runtime of 1 hour and 22 minutes. It has received mostly poor reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 4.7.
