Ep 5. Trophy

In the fifth episode of the fifth season of The Shield titled "Trophy," Captain David Aceveda (played by Benito Martinez) attempts to make progress on his mayoral campaign. He continues to reach out to influential community members in hopes of gaining their support and endorsements. While out on one of his campaign stops, he runs into City Councilman Ed Kavanaugh (played by Forest Whitaker), who is immediately suspicious of Aceveda's intentions.

Meanwhile, the Strike Team continues to operate under the radar, taking out drug dealers and making arrests. However, their latest operation hits a snag when they discover that their target is actually a confidential informant for the DEA. This puts the team in a difficult position as they try to navigate their way out of potentially compromising their relationships with other law enforcement agencies.

Detective Claudette Wyms (played by CCH Pounder) is dealing with her own challenges as she tries to solve a murder case. Her investigation leads her to some unexpected places and forces her to confront some uncomfortable truths about the city and its residents. As always, Wyms is determined to get justice for the victim, no matter what it takes.

As the episode unfolds, tensions continue to rise between the various characters of The Shield. Each one is grappling with their own personal and professional challenges, making it difficult for them to work together in a cohesive manner. However, they all know that they have to put aside their differences in order to achieve their goals, whether it's solving a case or winning an election.
