Stupendous Sunday: Fall TV Peaks with 'The Walking Dead, 'Dexter,' 'Boardwalk Empire' and More

You know how occasionally the planets align with the sun and moon, supposedly causing phones to stop working, tidal waves to run backwards and indigenous populations to proclaim a certain apocalypse? Not so much?

Alright, well maybe I’m running a few different astrological phenomena together, but that’s what it feels like tonight in TV Land, as there’s a ridiculous amount of quality options, including the premiere of one of the most exciting shows in recent memory, new episodes of two exceptional, well-rated shows, and a documentary on a recently departed genius.

And since Yidio’s editorial HQ is here in the Windy City, there’s even a Chicago Bears night game versus the Vikings to consider. Let’s just say that fall evenings like these are made for Yidio.

"The Walking Dead" – Glorious, gory nirvana arrives from AMC tonight in the form of a 90-minute premiere episode of season two of “The Walking Dead” – certainly the best zombie show ever to grace the airwaves, but also arguably the most enjoyable show on the airwaves period (no offense “Boardwalk Empire” or “Dexter”). "Boardwalk Empire" – Nucky has been getting the shaft from plenty of former allies lately, not to mention plenty of heat from the authorities. Jimmy and the Commodore have been lining up forces and eating Nucky’s lobsters, and he’s at the end of his rope. By the looks of this preview, it looks like they might soon find out that when you mess with the steer, you’re gonna see the business end of the horns.

"Dexter"–  Dexter has started become a begrudging fan of Brother Sam, aka Mos Def, aka Yasiin, and recently started doing some of his dirty work for him, while Deborah has been busy turning down Quinn’s marriage proposal and becoming Miami Homicide’s next Lieutenant. Meanwhile Colin Hanks and Edward James Olmos continue to build some sort of elaborate, mysterious and disturbing serial-killing apocalyptic setup that we're dying (pun intended) to find out more about.
