This film is mainly focused around a mother of two named Lainie Wheeler. In the beginning, Lainie's husband has just abandoned her and their two daughter's in order to go to a Thai Monastery. Refusing to dwell on her husband leaving, Lainie moves on with her life and finds a new lover named Matt Harper. However, Lainie has developed a serious addiction to pills and is slowly beginning to neglect her family. She ends up causing a terrible accident where she is sentenced to a long stay inside of a rehab facility, as well as lose custody of her two daughters. Eventually, Lainie completes her stay at the rehab center and is released from the facility. Lainie then goes on a mission to get her life back on track and get her family back together. No long after her release, Lainie gets a job as an assistant to a local TV producer, and she has started to mend the broken relationship between her and her two daughters. The process is slow, but Lainie has finally gotten to know her two children better, and is working a stable job. However, one day after leaving work, Lainie's car breaks down on her way home. A well known baseball player and acquaintance of Lainie, Harry Brewer, spots Lainie stranded on the road side, and offers to give Lainie a ride home. Unfortunately for Lainie, Harry's kind gesture is not so kind after all.
