Brothers is a dramatic film that deals with the harsh realities of military family life. Captain Sam Cahill receives deployment orders for a tour in Afghanistan. Through a series of misfortunes, Sam is missing in action and is presumed dead. His wife, Grace is notified, shortly before his brother, Tommy visits her home. Tommy has a history of always finding trouble and Grace is reluctant to allow him entry at first. Tommy moves into Grace and Sam’s home to help Grace and her children, as he believes Sam would want to him to do. They begin to spend a vast amount of time together and build a bond. Nevertheless, they remain plutonic as, they both feel it is wrong to start a relationship since Tommy is Sam’s brother. He does, however, remodel her kitchen as a gift to show his appreciation and hopefully take Grace's mind off of her loss. Meanwhile, Sam is still alive and is a prisoner of war in Afghanistan. Sam experiences his own private hell as he is the captain, and he swore to protect Private Joe Willis, who is also a prisoner. After Willis is murdered, Sam manages to escape his capturers and fights to get back home. U.S. military forces locate him and notify Grace that he is still alive. Sam is finally coming home. Upon Sam’s arrival home, everything and everyone are different. After all, he has been presumed dead for nearly a year. His daughter, Elsie is angry and wants nothing to do with him, and he discovers that Tommy has lived in his home with his wife and family while he was gone. Succumbing to the effects of Post Trauma Stress Disorder it is all too much for Sam, who is convinced that his wife was unfaithful and had an affair with Tommy.
