Before the Civil War, Dan Frost and Jane Hammond got engaged. Dan left to fight for the Union and Jane heard nothing for him for over three years. Jane could only assume he had died, and she made the difficult decision to move on with her life. She decided to move to New Mexico to start over. Along the way she was captured by a white slaver, but rescued by a former outlaw named Bill. It turned out that Dan was alive, and when he returned to Jane he found her married to Bill. There was nothing for him to do but to settle down nearby. In 1871, the Bishop Boys came looking for Jane's new husband, Bill. They had an issue to resolve with Bill and the pumped him full of bullets. Bill stumbled home, barely alive. Jane knew the gang wouldn't be done until her whole family was dead. Jane had no choice but to turn to her ex-fiance, Dan Frost, for help against the notorious outlaws. At first Dan refused, but in the end he decided to help his former love. Jane knew the gang would be coming for her as well. She had to seek out her former fiance to help defend her family against the ruthless killers. Jane would have to battle not only the Bishop Boys, but her memories of torment in a battle for the life of herself and all she held dear. Each of them had secrets that spill out in the resultant conflict, secrets that would change their lives and put them all in even greater danger.
