Forsaken is a Western that centers on a man by the name of John Henry who attempts to make amends with his estranged father, Reverend Clayton, in the midst of a gang attempting to seize their community in Fowler, Wyoming out from under them. John is the chosen one who can stop the gang from taking over. However, John is a former gun fighter and Reverend Clayton is very weary of the idea of John returning of a life of crime and violence. The film is said to be quite appealing to fans of Westerns. It is also said to be like the old school storytelling of Westerns in that it centers on familial conflict and community issues. It also brings back the old shoot-the-enemy dead attitude along with the old idea of one male hero left to save for all. It is also said to be played quite straightforwardly as there is very little dawdling around the main events.
