Gospel of Deceit is a Lifetime movie released in April of 2006. The movie is about a young church going couple who meet an equally young man at their church picnic. In just a short amount of time, the married couple establish a trust with the stranger. The couple let the man into their lives by hiring him as a handy man, lending him the keys to the church, and inviting him to dinner at their home. Sure enough, everything that can go wrong does. The wife of a preacher, Emily Wednell, is getting ready for bed when she begins to have dreams about the young stranger, dreams that can only lead to a troubling situation. The dreams are inviting to the female eye as she dreams of the stranger working on her car and taking his shirt off to show off his body. She also dreams of the stranger working on other manly tasks. The catch is the preacher Ted Wednell, Emily's husband, belittles her often, making the dreams more of an escape for Emily. Emily does everything she can to erase the dreams, she even goes as far as praying in the church where the young stranger sleeps. Things become ever more dramatic as Emily ends up kissing the stranger in his bed in the basement of the church. Luke, the stranger, tells Emily that he loves her and shortly after the drama ensues. Later in the movie Luke demands $50,000 and when Emily refuses, Luke threatens to blackmail her. Emily has found herself in a world of trouble. Apparently, Luke isn't a stranger, but a secret from Emily's past. The movie stars Alexandria Paul as Emily Wednell, J.R. MacKenzie as Ted Wednell, and Cory Sevier as Luke. The movie is also written by John Benjamin Martin and directed by Timothy Bond.
