Alone We Fight is a war movie set during the Battle of Ramadi, which took place during the Iraq War. The movie follows a group of American soldiers who are tasked with holding a strategic building in the middle of the city, as they fend off waves of insurgents who are determined to capture it. The story is largely told from the perspective of Sgt. John Baker (Aidan Bristow), a veteran soldier who has seen his fair share of combat. Through flashbacks, we learn that John has lost his family due to the war, and is now driven only by a sense of duty to his fellow soldiers. He is a tough, no-nonsense leader who is respected by his men, but also has a softer side that he keeps hidden.

The other members of John's team are a diverse group, each with their own distinct personality. There's Pvt. Simmons (Matthew James McCarthy), a young soldier who is eager to prove himself; Sgt. Dixon (Michael King), a gruff but experienced soldier who has been in too many wars; Pvt. McCormick (Juan Pablo Veza), a Hispanic soldier who is constantly cracking jokes to lighten the mood; and Pvt. Hernandez (Corbin Bernsen), an older soldier who is just happy to still be alive.

As they hunker down in the building, the soldiers face a relentless onslaught of enemy fighters, who seem determined to take the position at any cost. The action scenes are intense and well-choreographed, with plenty of gunfire, explosions, and hand-to-hand combat. The movie does not shy away from the brutality of war, and there are several scenes that are difficult to watch.

One of the key themes of the movie is the idea of brotherhood and camaraderie among soldiers. Despite the fact that John's team is made up of men from different backgrounds and with different personalities, they are able to come together and fight as one when they are under attack. The movie is also critical of the Iraq War itself, and there are several scenes that highlight the senseless violence and destruction that the conflict caused.

The performances in Alone We Fight are generally strong, with Aidan Bristow in particular standing out as the film's lead. He brings a sense of gravitas and intensity to the role of John Baker, and is able to convey the character's inner demons without resorting to unnecessary exposition. Corbin Bernsen also does a good job as Pvt. Hernandez, adding some much-needed humor and levity to the movie.

One of the only real flaws of the film is its limited scope. Because the entire story takes place within a single location, there is a sense of claustrophobia that can be both effective and frustrating. At times, it feels like the filmmakers are trying to stretch a single battle out over an entire movie, and there are moments where the action drags a bit.

Overall, Alone We Fight is a solid war movie that should appeal to fans of the genre. While it may not be the most groundbreaking or innovative film of its kind, it is well-made and features strong performances from its cast. The movie is a reminder that war is a brutal and senseless endeavor, and that the men and women who fight in them deserve our utmost respect and support.

Alone We Fight is a 2018 war movie with a runtime of 1 hour and 32 minutes. It has received mostly poor reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 2.9.
