Ambulance Girl is a 2005 film that is based on a true story about a woman's struggle with depression and the feelings of emptiness. Although she is faced with a self rendering aspect to overcome, she does fight to stay hopeful and conqueror the battle that is set up before her. Also, she realizes that this self journey with help her in other places of her life, too. The woman's name is Jane Stern, and both her and her husband, Michael Stern, have been by each other's side and happily married for thirty - three years. Although their love for each other is admirably strong, Jane is not exactly happy. Jane has always left feeling like an outsider because she is insecure about her self and is depressed with a phobia, while her husband is doing extremely well and has not touched alcohol in three years. Jane realizes that she is not satisfied with their daily routine of being food writers and does not want them to drift apart in any way due to her depression. She then takes it upon herself to spice up her life in a entirely different field, to satisfy herself and to overcome her fears at the same time. After her husband Michael continuously encourages her to do what she wants, she then signs up to the join the Emergency Medical Technician's training in the Grafton Volunteer Fire Department. Despite her fears and having no support from anyone but her husband (she is a very clumsy woman), she aces her Emergency Medical Technician's training with flying colors, gets her medical certificate, and applies for a job at the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians. As she begins to work at the Grafton Volunteer Fire Department, she improves herself and overcomes her depression, which also helps her personal life because her happy marriage with her husband, Michael, has no reason for doubt.
