Atone is a thrilling action-packed movie that was released in 2017. The movie was directed by Wes Miller and it stars Richard Gant, Deborah Lacey, and Shaun Baker. This movie is set in the vast American countryside, and the scenery plays a significant role in the movie. The movie is generally about redemption and how various characters in the movie find redemption when they least expect it.
At the start of the movie, we see two brothers, Ray and Alan, who are diametrically opposed to each other. Ray is a former convict and is set to be executed in a few days for a crime he committed years back. His brother Alan is a successful young attorney and is the only person who can save him. Alan is, however, hesitant to help Ray, and he comes across strongly as a person who has never forgiven Ray for his past mistakes.
Things take a strange turn when Alan becomes the target of a vicious group of criminals, who are out to get him. These criminals kidnap Alan and hold him hostage as they try to score a big heist. What they don't know is that Alan has a surprise waiting for them: Ray, his estranged brother. Ray is now a changed man and is determined to protect his younger brother at all costs.
As events unfold, we see a lot of action, drama, and a bit of suspense that will keep you at the edge of your seat. The way the movie has been shot is impressive, and you get a sense of the vastness of the countryside. The cinematography is one of the highlights of this movie. It captures the essence of the American countryside beautifully.
The acting performances in this movie are also noteworthy. Richard Gant, who plays Ray, does an excellent job of portraying a man driven by redemption. He conveys his character's emotions brilliantly throughout the film. Deborah Lacey, who plays Alan's wife, is also excellent in her portrayal of the wife who is terrified but unwilling to let the kidnappers get away with their crimes. Shaun Baker is equally impressive in his portrayal of the kidnapper who has a change of heart and begins to see the error of his ways.
One of the themes in Atone is the concept of change and how it's possible to change for the better if you are determined to do so. We see this in Ray's character, who had a troubling past but has made a conscious decision to live a better life. We also see this in other characters in the movie who experience some form of redemption.
Another theme in Atone is forgiveness. Throughout the movie, we see Alan struggle to forgive Ray for his past mistakes. However, as events unfold, we see Alan slowly begin to change his views and eventually forgive his older brother. This theme is explored well in the movie without ever feeling preachy.
Overall, Atone is a well-crafted, action-packed movie that explores themes of redemption, forgiveness, and change. The cinematography is fantastic, and the acting performances are impressive. The director has done a great job of telling a compelling story that engages the audience throughout the movie. If you are a fan of action movies with a good story, then Atone is definitely worth watching.
