Bachelor Party is a screwball comedy film about a group of men throwing a big party for their buddy who is about to settle down into the world of marriage. This movie kick-started the movie career of Tom Hanks and was one of his first starring comedy roles. Hanks stars as Rick Gassko; he is a true goofball who makes his living driving a bus for a catholic school. Rick is engaged to Debbie Thompson (Tawny Kitaen), who comes from a wealthy family. Debbie’s parents are not too happy about her settling down with Rick, and they make it clear that they will do anything that they can to stop the wedding. Debbie has other concerns. She knows what goes on at these bachelor parties. She makes Rick vow that he won’t sleep with anyone else. Rick’s friends have different ideas. They are planning a wild throw-down party to end all parties at a swanky hotel. They book a suite and head out to hire some prostitutes, stock the hotel with drugs and condoms and even hire a special stripper who provides a very interesting show. Mr.Thompson contacts Debbie’s old boyfriend, Cole Whittier. Cole still has feelings for Debbie, and Mr. Thompson takes advantage of that by hiring Cole to go and catch Rick up to no good so that Debbie will break up with him. Debbie and her friends and family meet at the same time for a bachelorette party. Their party is set at the Thompson’s home. Most of the Thompson family is pretty uptight, and they are enjoying their tea and appetizers when there is a knock at the door. In Cole’s first attempt to sabotage Rick, he has had the prostitutes sent to the bachelorette party instead of to the hotel. Having two scantily clad sex workers makes Debbie a little suspicious to say the least. She and the girls head out in costume, dressed as prostitutes themselves, to try and sneak into the party. More hi-jinx ensue, and the film ends up with a showdown between Rick and Cole. Rick has a lot of explaining to do, but he must first settle his score with Rick. The film’s finale includes a high-speed chase through a variety of very interesting locations.
